Japan Highlights

June 17, 2024  -  June 24, 2024

We started today's tour from Miyagawacho Morning Maket. Some of us tried local food like Hida Beef sushi and bought cute souvenirs. We moved on to the adjacent Sanmachi area. The area preserves a great atmosphere of Japanese traditional buildings built in the Edo Period. Most of us tried local foods and liked them a lot. The next area was a world heritage village, Shirakawago, where you can see a lot of beautiful "gassho-style" traditional houses. More than half of us visited Kandake House which is one of 114 gassh-style houses in Hagi machi district. They were really impressed with the architecture and various tools which had been used for hundreds of years to survive the heavily snowing environment. In the afternoon, we moved all the way to Japan's ancient capital, Kyoto. It's raining now but I hope our students will enjoye historical legacies in Kyoto and Nara tomorrow.
