Day 4 began with a tour of the magnificent Hearst Castle, a living museum. This fabulous residence was created to incorporate and house many artifacts from William Randolph Hearst's exceptional art collection. Many of the rooms were constructed to fit the artworks, rather than the other way around. Hearst bought ceilings, fireplaces, choir stalls, tapestries, sculptures, paintings, and made them all part of the whole. A fabulous and fantastic place! From there, we drove down the coast of California through San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara into Malibu and Santa Monica. After the long drive, everyone was eager to get off the coach and have some fun on the Santa Monica Pier. A good time was had by all!
