EXPLORICA’S TRAVEL PROTECTION PLAN
Our standard travel protection plan provides coverage for a number of events including:
- The injury, sickness, or death of a student or family member
- Documented theft of a passport or visa
- Flight cancellations due to strike or bad weather
- Loss of luggage and personal effects
- Medical expenses incurred while on the trip

EXPLORICA’S TRAVEL PROTECTION PLAN PLUS
Along with the benefits provided by the standard plan you may also have the option to upgrade to the Explorica Travel Protection Plan Plus which includes our exclusive Cancel For Any Reason Waiver.
With our Cancel For Any Reason Waiver, if you cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered by this policy, we will reimburse you for 75% of the non-refundable cancellation fees which apply to your trip, provided:
1) Payment for this plan is received by Explorica within 14 days of your initial deposit/payment for your trip; and
2) You cancel your trip 48 hours (2 days) or more before your scheduled trip departure date.
This Cancel For Any Reason Waiver Benefit does not cover penalties associated with any air or other travel arrangements not provided by Explorica.
The Cancel For Any Reason Waiver Benefit is provided by Explorica and is not an insurance benefit underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company.
The cost for the Travel Protection Plan and Travel Protection Plan Plus is based on your program's total price and provided at enrollment. The estimated cost for your program will be provided in advance. This plan should be purchased at the time of enrollment. You have ten (10) days from the date of purchase to review and cancel your plan for a full refund. After that period, the cost of the plan is non-refundable.
TRAVEL PROTECTION PLAN BENEFITS
TRIP CANCELLATION
Can reimburse you for the unused non-refundable prepaid payments and deposits paid for your Explorica trip if you were to cancel your trip due to a covered reason.
TRIP INTERRUPTION
If you have to interrupt your Explorica trip after departure due to a covered reason, you can be reimbursed for the unused, non-refundable land or water arrangements and the additional transport costs paid to return home or to rejoin your trip.
MISSED CONNECTION
Provides reimbursement for the unused prepaid portions of your land or water travel arrangements, plus the additional transportation costs to join your trip if a covered reason caused you to be delayed from arriving at your destination for 3 hours or more.
TRAVEL DELAY
Assists with additional expenses incurred when You are delayed at least 12 hours or more en route to or from or during your trip due to a covered reason. In the event of a covered delay, You may be reimbursed for additional expenses for hotels, meals, and local transportation.
MEDICAL EXPENSE/EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
Provides Medical Expense benefits for a covered Sickness or covered Injury incurred while on Your Trip. Under certain circumstances detailed in the Plan, this covers the cost to transport you to a medical facility to treat sickness or injury that is acute or life threatening.
BAGGAGE & PERSONAL EFFECTS
Provides reimbursement when your baggage or personal belonging are damage, lost or stolen during the trip.
BAGGAGE DELAY
If, while on your trip, your baggage is delayed for more than 24 hours, you can be reimbursed for the purchase of reasonable additional clothing and personal articles.
PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS WAIVER
The plan exclusion for pre-existing conditions can be waived if you purchase the plan within 14 days of your initial deposit/payment for your trip and you are not disabled from travel at the time your plan payment is paid.

Note: The cost of the plans are non-refundable once selected. The plan cost includes the plan premium and a fee for non-insurance assistance services. You may obtain information on the plan fees by emailing assistancefees@tripmate.com.
HOW TO SUBMIT A CLAIM
Before you submit a claim to Trip Mate through your Travel Protection Plan, there are a few things you'll need to have ready:
- Your Plan Number: UF433E
- The departure and return date of your trip
- Depending on the reason for the claim, Trip Mate may indicate further documentation is required.
