It’s no secret that teachers are some of the hardest working people out there. Every day, they show up to teach our children and shape the future leaders of our country. This can sometimes be a tough, thankless task, but any teacher will tell you it’s rewarding nonetheless. The teachers we know never give up, and push themselves to give their students every opportunity to succeed. Teacher Appreciation Week is a great opportunity to tell a teacher – past or present – how much you appreciate them. It’s never too late to say thank you, and you may not know how much that means to someone!
At Explorica, we have the great pleasure of working with teachers every day. Teachers come to us because they want something more for their students. They want their students to experience life outside the classroom.
We’re on the phone making travel dreams come true with teachers every day. We asked some of our dedicated program specialists to talk about why they 💖 working with teachers. Here are some of their responses:
- They inspire students to love learning through the classroom, and around the world!
- What they do for their students everyday takes guts, love, and a willingness to be uncomfortable. The courage they show leading students around the globe is astounding.
- They sacrifice personal time to travel 4,000+/- miles away from home so students can experience self-growth, gain intellectual curiosity, tolerance, and confidence while creating life-changing memories.
- They’re committed to changing students lives by bringing them to places they’ve only dreamed about.
-
They are passionate about what they do!
The best part of our job is working with these passionate teachers, so we asked our employees to share some of their favorite teachers from their own schooling to the travel partners they’ve met at Explorica.
“My favorite teacher was a political science professor. He was very engaging and cares a lot about his US Latin American Relations class. In the middle of the semester, he was out for a few days. When he got back he told us he had been in Bolivia observing elections for OAS. I thought that was the coolest thing ever.”

“Mike, or Señor, as his students call him is the language chair at my home town school in Winthrop, MA. He has been traveling with Explorica over the past 5 years, with his recent group of 40 students just returning from Spain. I have seen just how much Mike’s passion for travel has impacted his students and my community. Families have invested in their children’s future through him, some have gone 3 years in a row! My little peninsula town of Winthrop is now full of young people who have traveled the world and understand what it means to be a global citizen. Bravo Señor!”

“Amber M. is all in for her students everyday! She is showing them the world, and they are more than willing to follow her – she is passionate about taking students out of the classroom to harness and celebrate cultural differences, navigate the unknown, and learn and adapt as they go. Her passion for her students and travel inspires an increased ambition to know, learn and explore.”
