5 Small Holidays to End Your Summer

July 4th has come and gone, and summer is sadly more than halfway over. Soon it will be time to stuff those backpacks and head back to school. Ok, ok don’t panic. Even though the Independence Day fun is over, there’s still time to enjoy the rest of summer vacation. There are even still some “holidays” left to recognize. Here are five small reasons (or excuses) to celebrate a few special days before it’s time to hit the books.

National Ice Cream Month

Guys. July is National Ice Cream Month, and that means we only have 15 days left to eat allllll the ice cream. Ok, so you can technically eat the delicious treat whenever you want, but isn’t it nice to have an excuse? We recommend taking a “trip” with your indulgences. Enjoy some gelato and pretend you are backpacking through Europe, or Japan is calling – try some mochi. Deviate slightly from the creamy goodness and devour some Italian Yum!

World Emoji Day (July 17)

We aren’t really sure how you celebrate this one, but it’s an emoji world and we’re just living in it. Send your best friends your favorite emoji(s). Better yet, see if you can have an entire conversation using only the tiny pictographs. The emoji opportunities are endless!

International Day of Friendship (July 30)
This just happened to be one of our favorite holidays. We thrive on seeing friendships form and grow around the world! Get together with your besties and celebrate all the things that make your friendships so special. Post a photo of you and squad. Did you meet a BFF while traveling? Call them up, reminisce about your adventures, and make sure they know why you love having them as a friend.

Book Lover’s Day (August 9)

Hey, I thought we said no more books until it’s time to go back to school. Just kidding! Did you pick up a book this summer you couldn’t put down? What was your favorite beach read? Share your recommendations because there’s still time to enjoy a book as you relax by the pool. No textbooks for another month or so, so make your recreational reading choices count!

National Dog Day (August 26)
We celebrate this day because…dogs. Actually, we celebrate every day because…dogs. Take your furry friend to the park, on an extra-long walk, or for a swim. Does Rover love riding in the car? Take him for a drive with the windows down. Then end the day with some treats – lotssss of treats. Oh and pets – lotsss of pets.

We hope you enjoy the rest of summer! Did your ice cream month celebration or summer reading list leave you feeling inspired to travel? Check out our tours, and what our students get to experience around the globe.
