Today marks the 68th anniversary of the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization’s (FAO) founding. Built upon the belief that “the goal of freedom from want of food, suitable and adequate for the health and strength of all people can be achieved,” the group inspires others to help join the fight to end world hunger. Every year on this day, we celebrate its creation through World Food Day.
At the beginning of each year, the FAO announces World Food Day’s official theme. The focus of 2013 brings us “Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition” in hopes that we can help create a planet where nutritious, sustainable staple foods will be available to everyone.
