We like to consider ourselves packing gurus — but beyond the suitcase, we’re here to help you prepare to take a group of students abroad. We spoke to one of our Account Managers, Chelsea, to find out her top tips for getting teachers and students ready to travel. Read on to learn more!
Explorica Tip: Pack light.
Chelsea’s Tip: No need to check a bag! Bring clothes you can re-wear and re-purpose into new outfits. Spray your clothes with fabric freshener, hang them overnight, and they’ll be as good as new in the morning.
Explorica Tip: Prep a rooming list for your students.
Chelsea Tip: Ask each student to list two or three people they’d want to room with, and make your list accordingly. That way, they’ll always room with at least one friend and they’ll have the opportunity to make a new one, too!
Explorica Tip: Set walking expectations.
Chelsea Tip: Bring a pedometer or smartwatch and make it a challenge. At the end of your tour, calculate how far you walked and see if you walked all the way across town.
Explorica Tip: Check with your provider to see if you have cell phone coverage abroad.
Chelsea Tip: The less time on your phone, the better. And don’t forget to take pictures with you in them! Grab a picture buddy who will take your photo at all of the sites, and promise that you’ll take theirs.
