5 movies to inspire travel

The recent release of Spider-Man: Far From Home has us all a little excited over here in the world of educational travel. Why? In the film, Peter Parker (AKA Spider-Man) travels to Europe on an educational school trip. Hey, that sounds familiar! While our travelers don’t usually experience elemental threats from another dimension while on our tours, this got us thinking of some other movies that always give us plenty of travel inspiration. Here are six movies to add to your must-see list.

The Bucket List 
Any movie with this title is going to have some serious destination-envy going on, right? Chances are you have a few places around the globe you want to see before you “kick the bucket” as they say. In this 2007 comedy/drama, two men (Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman) are facing terminal illnesses. After a chance meeting, the two strangers decide to travel the word checking things off their respective lists. Their journey takes them many places, including flying over the North Pole, having dinner in France, going on safari in Tanzania, and visiting the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal and Mount Everest.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Still in the mood for a film that highlights several destinations? This movie follows Life magazine employee, Walter (Ben Stiller) as he daydreams what it would be like to travel the word as a hero. However, he gets to finally have a real adventure when his job sends him on a special assignment. The movie takes viewers everywhere from Iceland to the Himalayas as they root for Walter Mitty.

Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
In this film, three British retirees decide to spend their golden years to India. After seeing impressive advertisements for the Marigold Hotel, they imagine a beautiful life of lush leisure, only to find when they arrive things aren’t always as they seem. The exotic, colorful beauty of India is a character in and of itself in the film.

Out of Africa
If going on safari in Africa isn’t on your bucket list, it should be! In this movie, Karen (Meryl Streep) travels to Africa with her husband, but unforeseen circumstances lead her to meet hunter, Denys (Robert Redford). Karen discovers she much prefers a simpler lifestyle in which she appreciates the beauty country that is her new home.

The Trip
Travel and food? Yes please! In The Trip, a food critic and his friend tour various restaurants in northern England. Sounds delicious!

Roman Holiday
In the mood for a timeless classic? Roman Holiday (1953), starring the iconic Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck follows a European princess and an American reporter as they experience Rome, Italy. What’s not to love?
