Teacher to Teacher (T2T) is the Explorica training and mentorship program for new group leaders. We give you the opportunity to join a vibrant community and connect with teachers from across the country who share your passion for education and belief that travel is an invaluable life experience for all who partake in it.
Meet one of our inspiring Teacher to Teacher mentors, Raquel A., a Spanish as a Foreign Language teacher in Houston, Texas. Raquel has developed an incredible program in which students have the opportunity to participate in a pen-pal project, corresponding with students in Burguillos del Cerro, Zafra, and Jerez de Los Caballeros, Extremadura. In addition to building cultural awareness and a sense of global identity, these relationships function as a way for Raquel’s students to enhance their foreign language skills, and just as importantly, form a pretty unique friendship. One special aspect of Raquel’s program is that the students may also opt to join a tour through this area of Spain and to meet their pen-pals at their schools. They will also participate in activities with their pen-pals, to solidify their bond of friendship and increase their functional use of Spanish.
Explorica is proud to partner with Raquel in creating these incredible moments inside and outside the classroom. In addition to meeting their pen-pal, students are involved in an ecological service project in the town of Burguillos del Cerro, where they plant cork and olive trees and support an ecology project in the community.

Raquel is bringing a wonderful group of opportunities to her students that will allow for a lifetime of service and friendships! Explorica is a wonderful partner in this venture!! I hope more teachers will realize that they, too, can develop service projects that work very well with most Explorica tours.
